Advancing Conversational Capability

Preparing Organizations to Thrive on Change

Cylient's Untying the Knot® approach was born from a simple observation: people and organizations get stuck not because they lack good ideas or talented people, but because they can't navigate the conversations that matter.

For over 20 years, we've been helping leaders move beyond "difficult conversations" to something more powerful: insightful conversations that create learning, collaboration, and positive change.

Guiding the Human Side of Change

Change Happens in Conversation

Whether it’s shifting how someone approaches their work or aligning a team around a messy issue, change today depends on strong conversational capabilities. If you can’t talk about it, you can’t change it.

That’s why Cylient™ helps leaders strengthen how they navigate the human side of change—how people think together, engage across differences, and move through uncertainty. Our Untying the Knot® approach creates a shared language that brings clarity, confidence, and real collaboration to make change happen.

“I've always been compelled by the human side of change—understanding what makes transformation possible and exploring how to make it practical.”

Dianna Anderson — Co-Founder & CEO

In 1990, fresh out of my MBA, I worked on large re-engineering projects. That experience taught me to see change as a system — but more importantly, it showed me that the human side of change is the more difficult side of change.

A few years later, I discovered coaching as it was just beginning to emerge as a profession and became a founding member of the International Coaching Federation. I soon found that when I coached clients to take a coaching approach to their everyday challenges, they were far more successful.

That realization, along with insights I gained from co-authoring the first book on the ROI of coaching, inspired me to focus on scaling coaching as a universal skill within organizations. To support that, I created the Cylient™ Untying the Knot® approach to conversations.

"That's what drives everything I do: gaining insight into the human side of change and creating ways to realize human potential, at scale.”

Why We Chose
the Name Cylient™

Cylient™ reflects how real understanding—and real change—actually happen.

unity of knowledge

Cylient™ is a derivative of the word consilient (or consilience), which loosely means unity of knowledge.

A Fancy Word With a Big Point

In science and history, consilience means that evidence from separate, unrelated sources can come together to support the same clear conclusion.

Where Different Brains Actually Work Together

We believe that when people with different perspectives are equipped to have meaningful conversations, they discover common ground that inspires them to work together and create positive change.

Yes, It Sounds Like That

Cylient™ sounds like “silly-ant.”
